About the Author B. Don Franks is a professor in handbook health occupational safety and chair of the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Maryland. Franks is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the American Academy of Kinesiology handbook health occupational safety and Physical Education (AAKPE), handbook health occupational safety and the Research Consortium of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation handbook health occupational safety and Dance (AAHPERD). He received his PhD in exercise science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Franks lives in Silver Spring, MD. Edward T. Howley is a professor of exercise science at the University of Tennessee, where he frequently has been honored for his excellence in teaching.
